Student Leadership Board

The purpose of this organization is to assist the Texas State University Leadership Institute with the planning, developing and execution of workshops, special events and other programming.

The Student Leadership Board should:

  • demonstrate behaviors and actions consistent with the Leadership Institute Core Values;
  • participate in campus student leadership development programs of interest to the membership;
  • assist in the development and implementation of Leadership Institute programs including the Leadership Workshop Series, Leadership Film Series, Leadership Institute Annual Conference, LeaderShape®-Texas State and all other initiatives;
  • develop and conduct outreach activities to effectively recruit and sustain student involvement in the Leadership Institute;
  • develop and facilitate workshops designed to enhance leadership development within student organizations;
  • and support financial development efforts on behalf of the Leadership Institute.

How can I become involved with the Student Leadership Board?

General membership is available to all Texas State University students. Student are encouraged to participate in general meetings and serve on committees. Student Leadership Board positions are selected using an application process.

What should I expect at a Student Leadership Board meeting?

During Student Leadership Board general meetings, Student Directors will facilitate a discussion/activity that will enhance the leadership skills of attendees. Following these discussions/activities the Executive Directors will provide information related to Student Leadership Board initiatives/events as well as initiatives/events related to the Leadership Institute.

What Student Leadership Board positions are available?

Executive Director/Co-Executive Director

Executive Director

The Executive Director will serve as the head of the Student Leadership Board. This position is responsible for the overall guidance and representation of the Board. This position will also be required to work 10 hours per week in the Leadership Institute.


Co-Executive Director

The Co-Executive Director will serve as the director of workshops for the Board. This position is responsible for developing workshop content to be presented at each general meeting and preparing Student Director Staff to present the content. The Co-Executive Director will assume the responsibilities of the Executive Director in case of their absence. This position will also be required to work 10 hours per week in the Leadership Institute.

Student Directors

Fundraising Student Director

The Fundraising Student Director will be responsible for coordinating and ensuring the follow-through of efforts conducted by the Endowment and Club Account Coordinators. This position will be required to co-present a workshop at a general meeting. This position will also be responsible for presenting monthly account reports at the first Board meeting held each month.

Marketing Student Director

The Marketing Student Director will be responsible for coordinating and ensuring the follow-through of efforts conducted by the Operations, Digital, and Campus Coordinators. This position will be required to co-present a workshop at a general meeting. This position will also be responsible for presenting marketing updates at the first Board meeting held each month.

Programming Student Director

The Programming Student Director will be responsible for coordinating and ensuring the follow-through of efforts conducted by the Retreat/Member Education, Social/Recognition, and Service/Outreach Coordinators. This position will be required to co-present a workshop at a general meeting. This position will also be responsible for presenting programming updates at the first Board meeting held each month.

College Relations Student Director

The College Relations Student Director will be responsible for coordinating and ensuring the follow-through of efforts conducted by the College Representative. This position will be required to co-present a workshop at a general meeting. This position will also be responsible for presenting college updates at the first Board meeting held each month.

Coordinators

Fundraising

Endowment Coordinator

The Endowment Coordinator will be responsible for the development and implementation of initiatives to contribute to the Leadership Endowment. This position will be responsible for carrying out 2 endowment events/initiatives during their term.

Club Account Coordinator

The Club Account Coordinator will be responsible for the development and implementation of initiatives to contribute to the Student Leadership Board Club Account. This position will be responsible for carrying out 2 fundraising events during their term.

Marketing

Operations Coordinator

The Operations Coordinator will be responsible for the correspondence of the Student Leadership Board. Duties will include, but are not limited to, correspondence with members/potential members regarding meetings, correspondence with guest speakers, the posting and distribution of minutes, and official attendance records.

Digital Coordinator

The Digital Coordinator will be responsible for all social media and web presence associated with the Student Leadership Board. This position will also provide regular feedback to the advisors regarding the digital presence of the Leadership Institute. (Please note this student will be required to complete GATO training).

Campus Coordinator

The Campus Coordinator will be responsible for the distribution and posting of all tangible marketing pieces related to the Student Leadership Board and the Leadership Institute. This position will also be responsible for identifying and cultivating opportunities to enhance the mission of the Leadership Institute.

Programming

Member Education Coordinator

The Member Education Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating member retreats and all member education related to the Student Leadership Board. This position will also provide continuing education to existing members, such as training on Robert’s Rules of Order.

Social/Recognition Coordinator

The Social/Recognition Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating all social and recognition events related to Student Leadership Board. This will include at least one social event per semester and one opportunity for member recognition per semester.

Service Coordinator

The Service Coordinator will be responsible for identifying service and outreach opportunities that directly align with the purpose of the Student Leadership Board and Leadership Institute. This position will secure and offer at least 10 service/volunteers hours per term. These opportunities must include on/off campus initiatives that relate directly to leadership.

College Liaisons

College Liaisons
 
The following liaisons will represent their respective colleges and serve as a liaison between the Leadership Institute and the college. They will be responsible for relaying information about the Institute to their college and providing feedback related to enhancing partnerships with their college.
