Texas State Leadership Capstone Program Structure and Benefits

Program Format and Benefits

The program consists of seven 3-hour sessions on Fridays (2/15, 3/1, 3/8, 3/15, 3/29, 4/5, and 4/12) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with lunch included. The program is FREE with the expectation that selected students make the commitment to attend all sessions.

This course will explore the complexities of leadership, focus on formation of self-identification and self-awareness as a leader, development of applied knowledge and skills, and real-world application of good leadership and followership. Topics will include:

Qualifications for Applicants/Nominees

Recognizing that student leaders play a key role both on and off campus, we recruit approximately 25 students who have demonstrated leadership qualities associated with the core values of the Leadership Institute through their thoughts, words, and actions. Applicants may be juniors, seniors or graduate students.

A prospective participant for the Texas State Leadership Capstone Program: Step Forward, Give Back may either apply directly or be nominated by a Texas State faculty or staff member. We seek:

Leaders who lead with integrity and have a vision for making the world a better place
Leaders who are engaged citizens tackling some tough social problems
Leaders who value diversity and strive for inclusivity within their organizations
Leaders who care about people and strive to build community
Leaders who will continue to make major contributions toward social change
