    • The annual Change Institute encourages students to think analytically about social justice issues so that they may propose solutions as leaders in a diverse community. By engaging in cross-cultural dialogue, becoming exposed to diverse perspectives, and establishing a sense of understanding towards cultural differences, students become empowered to create and sustain multicultural awareness in their communities. The Change Institute highlights the first step in creating a world in which individuals respect the diversity of opinions and cultures.

    • Leaders need training, and the Shepperd Edge is designed to provide today’s college and high school students with the tools needed for effective leadership tomorrow through an interactive training program. We also train organizations, leadership teams, and others by request.

Each program is a full day of training designed to include topics like leadership, ethics, and public service. Students explore these ideas through educational and practical sessions, leaving with skills, knowledge, and new relationships.

The John Ben Shepperd Public Leadership Institute is funded by the State of Texas and private contributions to provide leadership training for young Texans. This allows our staff to offer this training at minimal cost to you: we cover all materials and travel; you provide the students, the facility, and lunch.
